Her current working partner is Kili, a seven-year old yellow Labrador retriever certified in Historical Human Remains Detection (HRD) and Land HRD. Suzanne is also training the next generation of HHRD K9s with Kulla, a young Labrador showing strong promise in HHRD work. Suzanne’s previous K9 partner, Keb, was recognized as the American Humane Search and Rescue Hero Dog of the Year and is featured in her award-winning, bestselling book, A Dog’s Devotion: True Adventures of a K9 Search and Rescue Team, co-authored with Guy Mansfield.
Suzanne is a certified Karen Pryor Training partner and a Principal Evaluator of humain remains detection teams with the National Search Dog Alliance (NSDA).
She has been recognized for her leadership in the K9 community by receiving the Washington State Search and Rescue Volunteer Advisory Council Leadership Award in 2017.
She is actively working to establish standards and best practices for historical human remains detection as a professional discipline in the U.S. and beyond.
